Visit with Skip Via, Technology Specialist - WEB PRESENCE AND YOUR DIGITAL FOOTPRINTS
Skip’s 33+ years in Alaska have been spent as a K-12 teacher (including regular education, special education, and Gifted/Talented education), a district technology specialist, and a member of the UAF School of Education faculty where he currently concentrates on instructional technology and professional development. He served in various positions on the board of the Alaska Society for Technology in Education (ASTE), on Apple's National Education Advisory Board, and on several state commissions and committees, including co-chairing the Technology Standards Committee and the development committee for the Alaska Learning Network. His areas of professional interest include social media, mobile technology, and the role of technology and pedagogy in transforming education. Personal interests include music (as a former professional musician), hiking, skiing, and travel.
Web Presence and You Digital Footprints - human-computer interaction and social media use - is his latest passion.

This presentation and discussion will focus on understanding social media and your increasingly important digital footprint. We'll cover some tools and strategies for proactively managing your web presence in the current and emerging context of ubiquitous sharing and transparent information.
