Arrive at 11:30 to purchase lunch & network with others. Agenda starts at 11:55; speaker at noon. While the meeting officially ends at 1:10 p.m, plan to stay longer to wrap up, win the door prize, & schedule next month's event. Nonmembers are requested to contribute $10.00 to attend. There will be time for mingling and networking, so bring your business cards! Guests are requested to donate $10 and to consider annual membership ($50) in ASTD Alaska. Members' donation is covered in the membership.

Providence Cancer Therapy Center is a partner in supporting ASTD Alaska Chapter. Lunch meetings are held in the Center's Media Center on Floor 2 above the Cancer Center. Consult the Map to Meetings - Parking is gratis. Take the elevator that is within the parking garage for easiest access.

A lunch bar on the second floor of the Cancer Therapy Center offers soups, sushi, salads, & smoothies which can be purchased to eat in the meeting room.

Events Each month, set aside the second Wednesday to attend book talks, lunch hour seminars & case studies, & SIGs such as the eLearning Special Interest Group.  If you have an idea for a session, or would like to explore a topic with other members, please contact a Board member.

March 8th - LMS Selection and Implementation Presenters: Michael Baker and Stacy Lindenberg, First Citizen's BankToo often, vendor selection decisions are made in a vacuum. Without consulting others in your organization, utilizing research, and tying the decision to organizational objectives, you risk having the project rejected, a costly, drawn out implementation or under-utilization of the system. This session addresses the entireselection process, and shares best practices along the way. In addition, attendees will receive templates to use in their own organizations to support the process. Attendees can plan ahead and avoid pitfalls associated with vendor selection. They will learn the step-by-step process of vendor selection, creating buy-in, presenting to executive level stakeholders, implementation, and continuous marketing. This is a 2012 ASTD Webcast from ASTD. It runs a full hour. We will have discussion questions locally. We anticipate opening an electronic discussion board during the session.
