Mary has been involved in ASTD for many years, and in the Alaska chapter since relocating from Texas in 2003.  Shortly after arriving in Alaska, Mary accepted the position of Vice President of the chapter board. She currently heads Transition Management, a change management consulting company, and runs JarviHomestay Bed & Breakfast in Anchorage. Previously she served as Technology and Training for Eastern Aleutian Tribes, a health care corporation serving Alaska Natives, and until Fall 2007, she managed and developed curricula as Director of the Health Service Administration program (MBA/BA) at Alaska Pacific University. She has been named to ASTD national committees on CORE) overseeing 15 chapters across the United States in best practices for nonprofit management) and CRC, which evaluates and recognizes chapter best practices nationwide.

Lou began his career after earning his BBA degree (specialization - Personnel Administration & Industrial Relations) from the University of North Texas, Denton, Texas more than 30 years ago as a Personnel Administrator for a heavy equipment oil field manufacturer. Over the years Lou has had the opportunity to work in several industries (oil field, textile, lumber retail, air cargo, & health care) continuing all the while to gain valuable & varied human resources experience. Lou has served as leader in both his professional & personal endeavors. A few of his accomplishment are he organized the HR Directors of the 638 Native Health Organization of Alaska, and; has served as City of Bethel, AK Arbitrator; was Chair of San Antonio Area Girl Scouts Cookie Program & assistant troop leader; an advisor to Judson Independent School District Vocational Advisory Council; has been a board member of ASHRM & held every chair of the Texas-Oklahoma Personnel Association, & participated with the Wichita Falls Independent School District Vocational Advisory Council, CETA/PIC programs. Lou, a 30 year member of SHRM, earned his lifetime SPHR in 1998.

Presently Lou has his Masters in Organization Management from the University of Phoenix, is currently pursue his Ph.D. in Leadership & Organizational Change, is an Adjunct Professor at Alaska Pacific University, maintains a management consulting practice, currently serves ANTHC Executive Leadership as strategic planner after having served as their second HR Director

Jane Goetzinger moved to Alaska in 2004 from Orange County, California, where she worked in sales and marketing support, in the manufacturing field, for over 20 years.

Ms. Goetzinger is currently employed as Education & Training Manager at First National Bank Alaska. She is a current local and national member of the American Society of Training and Development (ASTD) and serves on the board of the Alaska chapter of ASTD. Ms. Goetzinger is also a local and national member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).

Prior to starting at First National Bank in 2007, Ms. Goetzinger worked at Alaska Village Initiatives, a self-supporting corporation organized in 1968 by and for Rural Alaskans, and promotes the economic well-being of Rural Alaskans though economic development, assistance, networking, advocacy, and education.

Ms. Goetzinger earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture and Managerial Economics from the University of California at Davis in Davis, California. She also earned a Master’s in Business Administration from Pepperdine University.

Sandi has operated her business since 1997 with a mission to conserve rural values through creative outreach and education.  This journey has taken her from traveling to rural communities to train regional groups, to her current focus of designing and developing eLearning programs. The overall goal is to equalize access to training both spatially and economically. She holds a Master of Vocational Education from UAA and a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Education from Utah State University, as well as certifications in online learning design. "ASTD has been a fabulous place to network with fellow educators and try new ideas with eLearning practitioners."

As one of the first computer trainers in Alaska in the 1980s, Dawn has taught computer skills across Alaska and in several western states. She also trains career development curriculum. Dawn has served in varying capacities with the Southcentral Alaska ASTD chapter for the last several years, most recently as president. Dawn says “I believe one of the most important aspects of a successful career plan is the opportunity to network with and learn from colleagues; I find the local ASTD chapter to be a wonderful source of professional networking and inspiration, and am pleased to continue to build this ASTD chapter to enhance the future of training and development in Alaska.”
